Is grout necessary for luxury vinyl flooring?

No, you don't have to have grout if you have luxury vinyl, but you can. Luxury vinyl flooring offers a tile mimic, so the grout is only a matter of visual interest.

About grout's role in luxury vinyl vs. tile

Luxury vinyl tile mimics the grout lines directly in the piece. As a result, no gaps can lead to water seepage.

Grout, now available in many colors, is only a design tool here; many feel it adds to the realism.

However, there are gaps between genuine tile pieces, so the grout seals, protects, and highlights the tile.

No sheets!

There are two forms of luxury vinyl flooring. This floor can be cut into vinyl plank flooring (LVP flooring), which mimics hardwood floorboards.

Alternatively, it can be cut into square, tile-sized pieces called luxury vinyl tile or LVT flooring; this echoes stone and tile looks.

You're not limited as to how to use a form, however. For example, some use a plank to mimic stone slabs; others use squares to echo wood-look tiles.

Luxury vinyl flooring benefits

  1. Style: Luxury vinyl flooring offers nature-inspired wood, tile, and stone images. The floors also have depth, dimension, and textured looks.
  2. Affordability: They may look like genuine materials, but you won’t pay nearly the same price!
  3. Durability: Luxury vinyl tile and LVP are layered and five times thicker than the original vinyl product. The wear layer is a clear, melamine coating that protects the floor from scratches, scuffs, and dents.

Luxury vinyl is also completely waterproof. It can be submerged or spilled on without damage.

  1. Low maintenance: Regular sweeping and periodic mopping is all that’s needed.
  2. Uncomplicated installation: We install via glue-down or floating floor.
